UPND at lowest ebb, charges Musoma

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

IT WILL take a miracle for the UPND to win the 2021 elections because the party has been on a downward spiral since the 2016 elections, Wright Musoma has said.

Speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr. Musoma, who is Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) leader, said while the UPND had been celebrating victories from returning their seats, the PF had grabbed two parliamentary seats and over 16 wards from the UPND.

He said despite a hullabaloo surrounding each victory in its strongholds, the UPND had been on the losing end since 2016 and that it will take a major shift for the opposition political party to post significant margins in the next general election.

“Since 2016, the PF wrestled two parliamentary seats and over 16 wards from the UPND and if you ask me for an honest answer on who has been the ultimate winner, it has been the PF because it has not lost a single parliamentary seat to the UPND. “In terms of strength going by the by-elections, the NDC is even better than the UPND because it has managed to get a parliamentary seat from the ruling party which the UPND has failed to do. With this trend, it will take a miracle for the UPND to win the 2021 elections,” Mr. Musoma said.

He said the UPND should not waste time going to court to petition elections results for alleged rigging because in its current state, it could not win a presidential election as its leader had failed to win the hearts of Zambians due to his dictatorial tendencies.

He said the puzzle to the UPND making any significant political strides should start by ushering in new leadership that would provide hope for the party faithful failure to which it will perpetually remain in the opposition.
