Chongwe better now, says Mwakalombe
CHONGWE Constituency has received a fair share of development as can be seen from a number of projects implemented in the area, Chongwe Member of Parliament, Japhen Mwakalombe has said.
Mr. Mwakalombe made the remarks during a visit to the Chongwe Central Business District (CBD) recently.
“It is clear that Chongwe has experienced massive development since the Patriotic Front came to power. Chongwe has had a lot of challenges such as roads and water. These are being addressed and cannot be compared to the time past,” he said.
“The water crisis in particular has been a long standing problem, but was never attended to. This government is resolved to mitigating the problem so as to improve people’s lives. I can boast that roads are equally being worked on and we have currently upgraded more than 13Kms of roads in Madido Ward. The people of Madido who were illegal settlers now have titles to their land. This is unprecedented,” he said.
Mr. Mwakalombe also singled out the upgrade of 55kms of roads in Kanakantapa Ward which was underway. He also disclosed that, government had also engaged a contractor to upgrade more than 5Kms of township roads in Chongwe Central Ward, a thing which would change the face of the district.
He emphasized that government was committed to improving the infrastructure in the district.
“Clinics, schools, roads and bridges have also been worked on across the district. Only biased people can claim otherwise,” he said.
Mr. Mwakalombe rubbished claims by some people that Chongwe was neglected.
He challenged the PF critics in the constituency to objectively compare the Chongwe of today to the Chongwe of the past governments.
Speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr. Kamba, who is Lusaka Province PF secretary, said he was baffled by the political path the NDC was taking where it was wasting time spreading lies by attacking Government instead of telling people what it would do for them elected.
He said the NDC under Mr. Kambwili had become bunch of social misfits and charlatans who prided themselves in politics of lies, hate speech, if
