NEW SHELTER AWAITS CHIFUBU MARKETEERS
TRADERS in Chifubu Constituency in Ndola will move into the K1.2 million modern market shelter by September 30 this year, Member of Parliament Frank Ng'ambi has assured.
Mr Nga'mbi told the traders the Zambia Army would move on site this week to complete the construction of the market shelter.
He said 300 traders would move into the new shelter, 150 in one of the smaller ones while 250 would move into the old market.
Mr Ng’ambi was speaking when he addressed traders who were selling their goods in makeshift stalls in Chifubu.
He said the traders should not worry about getting soaked during the rains because they would move into the new market before the rainy season.
Mr Nga'mbi also directed the market chairperson to give trading space to traders who did not have where to sell their merchandise from without charging them anything.
Chifubu Constituency Development Committee chairman David Ng'ona said Government had started a number of development projects under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to improve the livelihoods of the people.
Bishop Ng'ona said K400, 000 had been set aside for the empowerment of youths and women in Chifubu Constituency.
And Mr Ng’ambi has commended President Edgar Lungu for authorising the release of US$10 million to Chifubu Constituency, of which US$2.5 was for the upgrade of Pamodzi Overspill area's water and sanitation.
He said the project started on August 19 and would take about a year to be completed.
e contractor was already on site.
Mr Ng’ambi said Overspill residents had been waiting for the project for years.
e project would be a milestone in curbing water-borne diseases.
"We will continue to appeal to Government to have sewer pipes installed in order to completely eradicate water-borne diseases," Mr Ng’ambi said.
He said for the rst time in 50 years Chifubu Constituency had received over US$22 million in the water sector.
When the water and sanitation project was completed all unservised areas would receive water.
Pamodzi Ward councillor Manase Siwila said once the water project was completed no one had to worry about not having clean and safe water.
