Arrest Kawambwa woman’s killers – Siyanga

SWIFT action should be taken by the police in the case of a 68-year-old woman of Kawambwa who was raped and strangled by unidenti ed assailants on Saturday, Women for Change executive director Lumba Siyanga has said.

Ms Siyanga described the attack as called for.

She urged the police to quickly ensure that the perpetrato­r was brought to book to face the law.

“Women for Change is saddened by this developmen­t and we call on the Police to act swiftly on this matter,” Ms Siyanga said.

She was also concerned about the increase in cases of sexual violence especially against women.

Ms Siyanga called for serious measures to curb the situation.

“Sexual violence in whichever form is dishearten­ing as barbaric and unit is a human rights violation and has adverse e ects on society,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ms Siyanga urged families to look after elderly people in their households.
