Nkana fans pick new leaders
NEWLY elected Nkana Football Club supporters’ national executive committee have been tasked to raise funds for the smooth running
of the club.
And Kitwe-based Emmanuel Zulu was on Saturday elected as chairperson while Chalimbana University dean of students Jonas Simbeye won the vice- president seat.
Godfrey Kapalanaka was elected secretary and will be deputised by University of Zambia lecturer Dr Wezi Sindiso. Chartered accountant and Lusaka-based banker Joseph Chola was elected vice-treasurer and will deputise Misheck Sinyangwe.
Choma-based businessman Abba Munansangu was elected national trustee together with Martin Kabungo, Sydney Musonda and Gronellia Bwalya.
Speaking at the first ever national elections held at Nkana Stadium, Nkana president Everisto Kabila said the supporters club must help ensure the club remained commercially viable.
“What we expect from you is to mobilise all supporters to become paid up members. We expect you to come to us we sit and have a formal meeting, bring your ideas on how we can increase our financial base for the team,” “We can make the club a very big commercial entity, the onus is on you because we have the largest fan base across the country and we can do anything to make the club big,” he said.
And both Sindiso and Simbeye said the new executive will work hard to move with the football evolution.
“We will mobilise and fundraise for the team, we have to remain big both on the pitch and financially and we have a big role to play as supporters to achieve that,” Sindiso said.
