Senior Chief Ndungu wants peace

- By NATION REPORTER

CREATING a central constituency in Zambezi would reduce tribal divisions and fights and bring peace to the district as it would accommodate everyone regardless of their tribe, Senior Chief Ndungu of the Luvale people of Zambezi district has said.

The traditional leader said the creation of the central constituency would bring peace to the district as it would accommodate everyone regardless of their tribe.

He said this in a speech read by his prime minister Patrick Fumbelo during the Likumbi lya Mize ceremony.

Senior Chief Ndungu urged Government to intervene and create a central constituency in the district for the sake of peace.

He said the people of Zambezi were tired of fighting each other.

Instead, they wanted development.

“We want development now. Zambezi needs leaders who will bring development to the people, leaders who will leave a legacy when they are no more,” Senior Chief Ndungu said.

He urged the people of Zambezi to love one another and have a heart to work together. The Senior chief also called on the corporate world to consider investing in Zambezi district as it was rich in natural resources.

And gracing the ceremony, Minister of Tourism and Arts Ronald Chitotela assured the traditional leader of government’s intervention in the creation of the new constituency in Zambezi.

Mr Chitotela said the creation of the constituency would bring development closer to the people as enshrined in the Seventh National Development Plan.
