SPORT IN ACTION MENTORS FEMALE FOOTBALL COACHES
SPORT in Action (SIA) has hailed Street Football World and the German government through the German Federal Foreign Office for facilitating the training of female football coaches in Zambia.
SIA Executive Director Frankson Mushindu said the four-day training workshop facilitated by Germany’s 1989 European Championship winning member Petra Landers will strengthening the participation and recognition of girls and women at grassroots level.
Mushindu said the programme being held at the multi facility sports complex, the Olympic Youth Development Cente seeks to empower coaches who will act as role models for the young girls with a passion to take up football as their career.
“Sport in Action has joined forces with Zambian Streetfootballworld members and other organisations to deliver a four day training workshop for young female football coaches being held at the Olympic Youth Development Center (OYDC) in Lusaka.
“Our objective is to strengthen the participation and recognition of girls and women at grassroots level in the country.
“SIA commends Street Football World and the German government through the German Federal Foreign Office for making the training of female football coaches in the country possible,” Mushindu said.
Mushindu reaffirmed SIA’s commitment to supplementing government and the Football Association of Zambia’s efforts to mentor young coaches.
About 36 participants drawn from 11-sports organisations in Central, Eastern, Lusaka and Southern provinces are attending the workshop which started on Monday.
