Arrows aim for Power’s scalp

- By GRACE CHAILE LESOETSA and JACK MAPAPAYI

RED Arrows will be bidding to continue their inspiring start to the season when they host Kitwe giants Power Dynamos at Nkoloma Stadium today.

While champions Zesco United host Lumwana Radiants and Zanaco will be away to Nkwazi in Super Division Week Three fixture.

Coach Chisi Mbewe hopes his Arrows side will pick a third straight win. Arrows edged Nakambala Leopards and Radiants 1-0 apiece to be in the top four on the table.

But this may be an uphill battle for the Zambia Air Force sponsored side who are without three key players in skipper Bruce Musakanya, defender Benedict Chepeshi and midfielder Paul Katema on national team duty in eSwatini for the CHAN qualifier campaign.

Arrows will look to veteran striker James Chamanga who registered his first goal against Radiants to ensure the team’s victory.

Power looked a formidable side under caretaker George Chilufya with a 2-0 win over Lusaka Dynamos last week. An away win will be a plus for Chilufya and the team who are trying to win the confidence of their fans.

At Levy Mwanawasa, Radiants have not been convincing this season and may just record a third loss to Zesco.

Another victory barely three days after beating Nakambala Leopards 3-0 will boost Zesco’s morale as they prepare for the CAF Champions League second leg against Young Africans of Tanzania this week. Three-goal here Jesse Were is expected to increase his goal tally.

Zanaco return to local league action against a stubborn Nkwazi side. The bankers will seek a second win of the season.

Forward Chitiya Mususu will miss the match due to injury while midfielder Enerst Mbewe and Moussa Souleymanou have recovered.

In other fixtures, Buildcon take on Forest Rangers, Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy host Kabwe Warriors, Green Eagles welcome Leopards and Green Buffaloes will be away in Solwezi to Kansanshi Dynamos.
