Witness recalls dramatic stabbing incident that left victim dead

A WITNESS yesterday told the Lusaka High court that a 17 year old murder accused killed his friend by stabbing in the left side of the neck and left him bleeding following a fight at JCS Bar in Longacres. went to sit on the table where the juvenile offender and the 16-year-old were.

He said he had known the juvenile offender for 13 years because he used to live in his neighborho­od in Mtendere.

The court also heard that Mr Lungu and the juvenile offender used to know each other because they both used to attend street culture dance competitio­n.

He told the court that he and Mr Lungu found the juvenile offender and the 16-year-old boy appearing drunk.

Mr Halubala said after around 21:40 hours, he left the table and went to the toilet. He said on his return, he saw the 16-year-old juvenile running towards Mr Lungu and started punching him.

Mr Halubala said he with the help of security guards separated the two.

He said at this point, Mr Lungu, who appeared tired, said he wanted to go and rest outside.

He narrated that at that point, the juvenile offender started throwing punches at Mr Lungu who kept pushing him away in defence.

He said the juvenile offender picked a bottle which he hit on the ground and stabbed Mr Lungu in the neck.

"He jumped on Sebastian and stabbed him in the neck, I was scared, I didn’t know what to do," Mr Halubala said.

He said the juvenile offender wanted to run but was apprehende­d by taxi drivers.

Mr Halubala said Mr Lungu, who was bleeding, was later rushed to hospital but died the same day.
