Habitat projects touch 4,000 families
HABITAT for Humanity Zambia has assisted 4,000 families with decent accommodation, acting National Director Ruth Mitimingi has said.
Mr Mitimingi said Habitat was committed to assisting the less privileged with basic needs such as shelter, water and sanitation. She was speaking in Ndola yesterday at the launch of a book titled, ‘Zambia – Building a Better Future.’ Ms Mitimingi said Habitat had been rolling out community programmes with the help of partners and other organisations such as Allianz – All Secure, an insurance company which originated in the Netherlands. “In November 2018, Allianz sent a small team to Zambia to see and learn about the needs in the communities. Ndola and Twapia in particular was privileged to be selected and Allianz brought in 20 volunteers to help construct two houses for families,” she explained. he than ed llian for its ontinuous support oth finan ially and morally throughout the years, that had seen various projects come to fruition. At the same function, Ndola Mayor Amon Chisenga said Government was working tirelessly to ensure that it provided basic needs to people. Mr Chisenga observed that it was good to learn that there were partners like Allianz -All Secure Insurance and Habitat for Humanity Zambia who were willing to support the people and develop their wellbeing through sharing resources. “Allow mw to laud Allianz -All Secure Insurance for supporting the people of Twapia with a water kiosk that is currently giving safe and clean drinking water to over 280 families,” he said. nd llian - ll e ure nsuran e hief e uti e offi er Anthony Bradshaw said his organisation was committed to helping the people in Zambia and ensure that they had safe homes to live in.
