Musenge won’t impose himself

- By ROGERS KALERO

I will not impose myself as the messiah but remain a servant of people with a responsibility to provide proper leadership in the new party, politician Mwenya Musenge has said.

He said in the new political party, he would search and find good leadership that would drive the country forward.

Mr Musenge, who was Secretary-General of the defunct, National Democratic Congress (NDC), said his team had started a process of forming a political party and had already submitted the symbol to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

The proposed name of the party is New Development Congress Party (NDCP).

In an interview in Kitwe yesterday, Mr Musenge said after submitting the party’s symbol to the ECZ, his team would then proceed to submit the papers to the Registrar of Societies.

“In the meantime, we don’t want to make a lot of noise, but we are moving quietly. We are putting documents together to set the stage for the NDCP. We have submitted the party’s symbol to the ECZ.

“After ECZ, we will then submit our documents to the Registrar of Societies. Let me hasten to state that, I am not myself as a Messiah, but as a servant with a responsibility to search and find good leadership that will drive the country forward,’’ Mr Musenge said.

Mr Musenge said the vision of his team was to create a platform that would promote democracy, unity and uphold integrity as they seek to prosper Zambia.

‘’We are working to realise this vision. As I said, Zambia has leaders and they are out there. Our task, moving forward is to mobilise ourselves and identify leaders that can bring much needed development,’’ he said.

He urged Zambians who were frustrated and tired not to give up, because they were the hope and the leaders who would change the country for better.

‘’Appeal to you all is never give up. You are the hope, you are the leaders that will change this country for better. I am asking you, come, let us work together.

‘’Come so that together, we build a platform that is fair, and respects the rule of law. A platform that will respect people and nurture their ability for the betterment of our country,’’ he said.
