ZAMBIA has been commended for maintaining its declaration of being a Christian nation and that it should not break its covenant with God.

Cornerstone Covenant World (USA) director Dr. Fred Stapleton said Zambia should remain a christian nation and be strengthened through the declarations recognition in the constitution.

Dr. Stapleton said Zambia had continued to enjoy peace as that could be seen through its people’s warm hospitality.

The cleric said his organisation was happy to work with partners who had been called to uplift chil-dren’s plight through the word of god.

During his visit, Dr Stapleton’s organisation would donate over 500 pairs of brand new shoes, under-wear’s and soccer balls among other items to children.

The organisation was currently working in Garden, Chawama, Kasupe and Zingalume compounds where they deal with vulnerable children and provides them with food and other necessities.

He said for many years, he had worked with children in Zambia and abroad in helping them under-stand the work of God and also its impact in their daily lives.

And Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili the country still had an obligation to invest in children for them to have a future with people that were ready to take up leader-ship.

Reverend Sumaili said her ministry was working with the Ministry of Education in ensuring that the curriculum in schools was strengthened and that Christian education was properly delivered to the children.

She said her ministry was mandated to actualize the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation and ensure that the declaration becomes real in people’s daily lives and all the three arms of government.

“My ministry is working closely with the church in ensuring participation in all governance systems, and we are happy to see people that are dedicated to reaching out to children as that gives assurance of a better world, in that the future of the nation belongs to children,” she said.
