Chinsali water works on course
CONSTRUCTION and rehabilitation of the water supply system in Chinsali at a cost of over K51,078,448 million has reached advanced stage.
Chambeshi Water Supply and Sanitation Company Managing Director Luckson Simumba told the Daily Nation that the project progression currently standards at 98
% and is expected to be completed by December 2019. Mr Simumba said the project aimed at expanding water supply infrastructure in the district will benefit over 50,000 individuals and households.
“With funding from government the water utility firm has embarked on construction and rehabilitation of water infrastructure in Chinsali to improve people’s access to safe and clean drinking water.
The project stands at 98 percent completion and is expected to be completed by December 2019,” Mr Simumba said. And Mr Simumba said the project to improve and expand water infrastructure in Mpika, Mbala and Kasama has been completed.
He said the projects supported by BADEA and the government at the cost of US$12 million will benefit about 300, 000 people in the three districts.
Meanwhile, Mr Simumba has expressed disappointment with the continued encroachment on water sources.
He the trend will have negative efforts in the provision of water.
Mr Simumba said the water utility firm is working with local authorities and other stakeholders in sensitizing people against encroachment of water sources.
