Up your game, PF tells police chief

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

POLICE Inspector General Kakoma Kanganja should pull up his socks to stop lawlessness in the country, says Patriotic Front Lusaka Province chairperson Paul Moonga. And Mr Moonga urged former advisor to President Levy Mwanawasa, Jack Kalala to stop misleading the nation.

Mr Moonga said it was prudent that Mr Kanganja was on top of things so that law and order prevailed.

He said the recent illegal procession by UPND youths carrying a coffin in Lusaka’s central business district showed that Mr Kanganja was not doing what was right to stop unruly behaviour.

“Our lives are in danger because of what is now happening, this should be curtailed and it is the job of the Inspector General to ensure that we are safe,”

Mr Moonga said. Mr Kanganja must up his game for sanity to prevail because lawlessness being perpetrated had potential to cause mayhem, Mr Moonga said. “If he was on top of things such behaviour could not have happened but because he did not do right things people’s lives were in danger.

“We are urging our friend the IG to show seriousness in his job, there is no friendship when it comes to work, let him do the best for this country,” Mr Moonga said.

And Mr Moonga said there was need for both the UPND and PF to restrain from engaging in political violence. He said it important that political parties promoted unity which was cardinal for the country’s democracy.

And Mr Moonga has described the sentiments by former special assistant to the president for policy and project implementation under late President Levy Mwanawasa, Jack Kalala, that President Edgar Lungu had no capacity to govern the country as nonsense.

He said President Lungu had done a tremendous job to develop the country which was not done by the previous governments.
