Zesco mismanaging load shedding

-

Dear Editor, ALLOW me to use your space to voice out about Zesco and their failed plan to maintain and follow the timetable that they themselves published in the newspaper some weeks ago. Like the saying goes failing to plan is planning to fail. It’s clear now that Zescomanagement has failed us as their clients. Zesco has been in existence for a long time now and it is a well established power utility. What is surprising me the most is their incompetence to stick to the timetable and their load shedding hours. I remember very well this whole thing of load shedding begun when one of the coal plants in Mamba developed a fault and we were promised that they would have it fixed in 15 days but to my surprise after 15 days the story changed from a faulty plant to lower levels of water in the Kariba Dam. my question has and will always be is that why are they only telling us of lower levels of water in Kariba and if indeed it was so ? and where is the power being generated at Mamba, Itezhi tezhi and Kafue gorge going?? Secondly my humble plea to the Zesco management is they should pull up their game and make a committee that will look in the matter of climate change because clearly it’s not there because if it was, we wouldn’t be in this mess of going for 15 hours without power and on top of that being forced to go and buy expensive electricity that wont change anything. You can do better than this ba Zesco. PATRICK M. CHIKATU, trick .M. Chikatu, Lusaka
