TRIBALIST MUKUNI SLAMMED

Stop being mischievous and leave Bemba chiefs out of your political manoeuvres.

- By AARON CHIYANZO

Senior Chief Mukuni, a known tribalist, should stop being mischievous and leave Bemba chiefs out of his political manoeuvres, Change Life Zambia (CLZ) president Joseph Kasongo has said.

And PF media director, Sunday Chanda advised Senior Chief Mukuni to cease masquerading as President Edgar Lungu’s mouthpiece.

The two were reacting to his claims that some Bemba chiefs have been engaging President Edgar Lungu on his possible replacement because he had allegedly decided not to contest the 2021 elections.

Mr Kasongo warned that Senior Chief Mukuni of the Toka Leya risked losing the little respect some Zambians had for him because of the tribal and political route he had taken.

“This talk about tribes could divide the nation,” said Mr Kosongo.

Mr Chanda also said Senior Chief Mukuni seeks to be politically mischievous and malicious.

“We clearly are at pains to respond to His Royal Highness but since he seeks to be politically mischievous and malicious, we wish to place on record Senior Chief Mukuni must cease masquerading as President Edgar Lungu’s mouthpiece. But we forgive him because seeing that it’s very hot, some in the population are likely to start hallucinating,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Chikwanda of Mpika said yesterday that , it was a blue lie and an attempt to advance political mileage for Senior Chief Mukuni to claim that some Bemba chiefs have been engaging President Edgar Lungu on his possible replacement.

Chief Chikwanda advised Senior Chief Mukuni of the Toka Leya to tone down and stop being political.

He said in an interview that Bemba chiefs discuss developmental issues whenever they have an opportunity to talk to the President.

In his claims, senior chief Mukuni alleged that he had intelligence reports from high ranking PF officials close to President Lungu that the Head of State was seriously considering finding a trusted replacement for 2021.

He claimed he had trusted information that the President engaged Bemba speaking chiefs and floated names to the traditional leaders in Bembaland who had allegedly advised that the name of Health minister Chitalu Chilufya be removed.
