Lungu, Kambwili ceasefire saluted
THE reconciliation between President Edgar Lungu and Chishimba Kambwili will bring a new twist to the political arena, former defunct National Democratic Congress (NDC) national spokesperson Brian Chirambo has said.
Mr Chirambo said it was prudent that supporters of the Patriotic Front (PF) and former NDC consultant Mr Kambwili followed suit.
He said in an interview yesterday it was important that the followers stopped politics of insults and concentrated on constructive discourse that would take the country to a higher level.
On Monday, the Catholic Church united President Lungu and Mr Kambwili with a call for the two to work together in growing the Patriotic Front to achieve the vision of its founder, late President Michael Sata.
Father Charles Chilinda united the two politicians through the former First Lady who is also Zambia’s Ambassador to France Christine Kaseba Sata.
This was during the memorial service of Mr Sata at Saint Ignatius Catholic Church in Lusaka. Mr Chirambo said therefore that politicians should stop insults and character assassination.
“We welcome the reconciliation of CK with ECL. Our prayer as New Development Congress Party is that their followers will also learn from this and stop politics of insults. It’s good that CK is now doing what our SG Mr Mwenya Musenge used to tell him.
“We will differ on ideas but never disrespect ones intelligence. Let’s work together to build a better future for Zambia,” he said.
