3 chiefs to work with govt
THREE chiefs in Mumbwa have pledged to work with and support government programmes in their areas.
And the traditional leaders have backed the proposal to demarcate Mumbwa Central Constituency into two.
Chiefs Moono, Chibuluma and Mumba spoke through Senior Headman Kashinka.
Headman Kashinka said the traditional leaders had resolved to work with Government to bring development to the people.
He said the area could not receive its equal share of development if people shunned to work with Government.
The chiefs invited President Edgar Lungu to visit the area to appreciate the challenges the people were facing.
And the three chiefs have supported a proposal to demarcate Mumbwa Central Constituency into two saying it will bring effective representation.
Chief Moono of the Ila believes the demarcation of the constituency will enhance decentralisation and speed up development in the district.
Speaking in a separate interview with the daily Nation Chief Moono said division of the vast constituency would be a blessing as it would spur development in the area.
“This programme is a blessing for my people. This will bring development closer to my people and we should ensure it is supported,” Chief Moono said.
And Chief Chibuluma, also of the Ila people, says he has no objection to the delimitation because it will bring services closer to the people.
He appealed to President Lungu consider creating another district in Mumbwa as the area is too vast for one district.
