KALINDAWALO WARNS SUBJECTS AGAINST SELLING INPUTS

- By KALOBWE BWALYA in Petauke

SENIOR Chief Kalindawalo of the Nsenga people of Petauke has advised his subjects against selling farm inputs to neighboring Mozambique.

Senior Chief Kalindawalo said some farmers in far-flung areas in his chiefdom were in the habit of selling fertilizer to people in Mozambique where it had great demand.

The chief observed that the district last year recorded a good yield because Government, through Neria’s Investment, distributed the inputs early enough to enabled the farmers plant on time.

He however warned that he would not take kindly to any farmer who would be found to be in the habit of disposing off farming inputs, as it was retrogressive to the development of the nation.

The chief said this when Neria’s Investment General Manager, Martin Chaikatisha, called on him at his palace yesterday.

He commended government for maintaining good working relationship with Neria’s Investment and for contracting the right transporters to deliver the inputs on time.

“Some farmers were selling fertiliser to the neighbouring Mozambique and other countries, farmers should not sell their farming inputs but to ensure it is used for the intended purpose,” said Senior Chief Kalindawalo.

Meanwhile, Mr Chaikatisha said the distribution of the fertilizer, which commenced in October, was currently underway.

Mr Chaikatisha said his firm would continue to supply and distribute the fertilizer as contracted by Government.

He also assured his company would maintain early distribution of the imputs.

“Neria’s Investment will ensure that all the deliveries are done in time as we have already positioned our stocks,” said Mr Chaikatisha.
