Mutobo recalls ‘prodigal son’ Fwayo
WING wizard Fwayo Tembo has resurfaced at Arthur Davies Stadium and is under-going assessment with the hope of roping him into the Power Dynamos squad.
The 30-year-old former Chipolopolo player had a training session with the Ndeke Township-based side.
In an interview, club chairman Bbenkele Haachitwe said the return of Tembo was at the request of coach Guston Mutobo who wants to assess if the player can rekindle his dwindling career.
“I understand that we had disciplinary issues with Fwayo when he was at Power but the coach requested that he be recalled for assessment. He wants to see if he can pick up knowing that he is a talented player,”
“If he impresses, the coach will let us know if we can sign him when the transfer window opens,” he said.
He said former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Mukuka Mulenga is also being assessed by the coach.
In April, 2016, controversial Tembo signed a twoyear-contract with Power and put up a decent shift until in July, 2017 when he went on Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL).
Later, the player and club reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract which was due to expire in 2018. He scored 14 goals over the two seasons he spent at Arthur Davies.
He then joined Lusaka Dynamos but also went AWOL before terminating the contract after allegedly going months without pay.
Meanwhile, Haachitwe expressed confidence Power will beat Buildcon in tomorrow’s delayed Week Eight match at Arthur Davies.
Power are third from bottom with seven points from eight games - (five defeats, one draw and two wins).
