I own Mikango land - Kaizer Zulu

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

I OWN the land in Mikango area which Anderson Phiri is claiming to be his and that he, together with some inistry o Lands o cials

he connived with, are under probe for fraud, Kaizer Zulu, the political advisor to President Edgar Lungu, has said.

Two days ago, Mr. Phiri claimed that Mr. Zulu has been threatening him over farm no. 300/70 which he was trying to grab from him.

But speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr. Zulu said contrary to Mr. Phiri’s lies that he was trying to grab the piece of land from him, he (Mr. Zulu) applied for two pieces of land marked 300/70 and 300/71 and that the said pieces of land were offered to him.

Mr Zulu said he then fenced the two pieces of land but that the Ministry of Lands later told him that the file for 300/70 had gone missing.

“I applied for that land and it was offered to me in 2013. If you took time and went to the said land, you will note that both pieces of land are fenced together. Go and check on 70 and 71 and you will prove that what I am saying is true,” Mr. Zulu said.

He said things started brewing at the ministry when he asked for a reprint of the offer letter for the piece of land whose file was missing and that it was at that time that officers within started manoeuvres to alter his records in an attempt to ropein Mr. Phiri.

He said he then realised that the claim that the file to one of his pieces of land was missing was a cover-up by the ministry officials who were working with Mr. Phiri to alter his records.

He wondered why Mr. Phiri did not want to own up as the same case had landed him in police cells for fraud and that the matter had not yet been concluded as it was still under police investigations.

“That individual (Mr. Phiri) is actually under investigations. I discovered that the man was actually trying to steal my other remaining piece of land. Initially, I did not know that he was in connivance with some Ministry of Lands officials.

“When we followed up the issue, we discovered the mischief. Some officers in the ministry and Mr. Phiri himself were picked by police and were locked up for engaging in fraudulent activities and the matter is still under investigations at the Lusaka police service division,” he said.

He maintained that the land in question belonged to him and that Mr. Phiri and some officials from the ministry were the ones trying to wrestle it from him.
