PF advised to remain focused
THE Communist Party of China (CPC has urged the Patriotic Front (PF) to remain focused if it has to continue beyond its current term of office.
Speaking during an interactive meeting with PF officials in Chongwe, CPC secretary general Leng Rong advised the ruling party to grow a loyal membership with a strong sense of responsibility and free of corruption.
He emphasised that gender equality was key to the growth of any political party.
He urged the PF to include more women in leadership in order to enhance gender equality in appointments, promotions and business enterprise empowerment.
Mr. Rong observed that Zambia and China had grown their 55 years of friendship which spans from the days of Chairman Mao Zedong and the first Republican president of Zambia, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda.
He reiterated his party's resolve to continue promoting the bilateral relations with Zambia which he said was established on a strong bond of mutual respect.
He emphasised that both Zambia and China had suffered the ills of colonialism and imperialism which made the two countries become like birds of the same feathers.
Mr. Rong told the gathering that the friendship between the two nations has been further strengthened through the continued bilateral relations exhibited by the strategic interaction between President Edgar Lungu and President Xi Jinping during the former's visit to China.
Mr Rong who described Africa as a key investment destination for China, also announced that his country had set aside 60 billion US dollars for investment in the continent.
Speaking at the same occasion, PF deputy secretary general, Mumbi Phiri thanked the CPC for the visit which she said would help strengthen the PF through the sharing of political strategies.
Ms Phiri observed that China had continued to be an all-weather partner to Zambia in development.
She said China had helped to enhance infrastructure development in Zambia and had partnered with the country in human resource development which was key to social and economic development.
