GBM: UPND PANICKING

…party leadership desperate as can foresee defeat in 2021

- By AARON CHIYANZO and MARTIN AKENDE

HAKAINDE Hichilema thought he would humiliate and finish me politically by instructing all the 75 members of the National Management Committee of the UPND to vote against me, says former UPND vice president for administration Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.

Mr Mwamba said the UPND was now panicking because it could foresee President Edgar Lungu scooping the 2021 presidential elections.

He said this in an interview yesterday.

“The UPND are not smart and still amateurs, that plan by Hakainde of instructing 75 NMC members to vote against me was rubbish. At least 50 should have voted against me just to show that there is democracy in the way they run the party. But because of dictatorship by Hakainde and desperation, he stumbled,” he said.

Mr Mwamba, popularly known as GBM said the UPND were a bunch of amateurs who cannot match his political acumen.

He said their unprofessionalism could be seen in the manner Mr Hichilema instructed all the 75 members of the National Management Committee to vote against him during his oust.

Mr Mwamba labelled Mr Hichilema as a dictator who was blinded by his desperation for power.

He was reacting to UPND secretary general, Stephen Katuka’s sentiments that Mr Mwamba was a shameless politician.

Mr Mwamba said the UPND had been losing elections because they were still amateurs and run politics with emotions.

Mr Mwamba also said the UPND had hit a snug if they thought he would be humiliated and finished politically by chasing him out of their party.

And Mr Mwamba has warned Mr Katuka that he would be a destitute once he was removed from his position in UPND as he was depending on the party salary.

He assured Mr Katuka and his party that President Lungu would be the Head of State beyond 2021.

Meanwhile, President Lungu said UPND would be taught a lesson in the 2021 general elections because the Patriotic Front would start mobilisation from opposition perceived bedroom.

He also received over 630 opposition UPND members in Livingstone who have ditched the party to join the ruling PF.
