Mushindano DC donates 10 pockets of cement to school
IN a bid to mitigate challenges of classroom space, Mushindamo District Commissioner Emmanuel Chihili has donated 10 pockets of cement for the construction of a 1x2 classroom block at Kichikwe Secondary School.
Speaking during the hand over at the weekend, Mr Chihili said he was prompted to donate the pockets of cement after seeing the commitment of the parents who have molded 15, 000 burnt bricks meant for the construction of the block.
He said as a leader, he believes that he has a duty to help meet the needs of the community.
He said that the school was gazetted in 2015 as a secondary school but that construction of classroom blocks has not yet commenced forcing both primary and secondary school pupils to share six classrooms.
“It is from this background that I decided to make this donation, and especially that parents have also shown willingness by molding 15,000 bricks,” he said.
He said next year, the secondary would have fullfledged enrolment from grade 8 to 12.
“And so far, Government has already given the school a centre number, what is remaining is putting up of infrastructure,” he said.
He thanked the parents for their relentless efforts to
supplement government efforts in order to enhance teacher pupil confidence.
And receiving the donation on behalf of the school and the community, Kangwena Councillor Steven Kasono thanked Mr Chihili for the gesture and appealed for more assistance in order to build the first 1x 2 Classroom block.
Meanwhile, school manager Mwanza Musana who was on hand to witness the donation said the donation would go a long way in the construction of the classroom.
