SOLWEZI WOMAN’S DEATH SADDENS LUNGU

A 40 YEAR OLD woman has died after being hit by a police vehicle in the Presidenti­al motorcade in Solwezi, a developmen­t that has saddened President Edgar Lungu.

President Lungu yesterday said in a statement released by his special assistant for Press, Isaac Chipampe that he learnt of the accident with extreme sadness.

“Death of any kind is regrettabl­e. But death arising from an accident and involving a young person is deeply saddening,” said Mr Lungu.

President Lungu said he was grieving with the bereaved family.

The incident happened on Saturday around 18:00 hours at Copper’s corner.

North- Western Province Commission­er of Police Hudson Namachila identified the deceased as Muyunda Mboma an employee of Kachema Meat company.

He said Mr Mboma was trying to cross the road when she met her fate.

“She died on the way to Solwezi General Hospital after sustaining fatal injuries,” he said.

Meanwhle, 25 year old man of Weigh bridge in Solwezi is nursing serious injuries after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Solwezi.

Mr Namachila said the accident happened near G-greens night club in Mitec area around 18:00 hours.

He said Kenneth Muhanga aged 26 if Mufumbwe was driving a Toyota Chaser registrati­on number ALF 425 that hit a pedestrian identified as Sebastian Mwale who was crossing the road.

He said the Mr Mwale sustained a deep cut on the head and was admitted to Solwezi General Hospital.
