POWER REIGNS a

…as 3-goal blitz sinks Nkana

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

FOR now Power Dynamos claimed the bragging rights in Kitwe after the 3-0 demolition of Nkana in an intriguing local derby played at a packed Arthur Davies Stadium.

The result left the 12-time MTN/FAZ Super Division winners “Red Devils” mourning with their faithful followers.

A first half goal from James Chamanga’s young brother Luka and second half goals from Davy Daka and Fredrick Mulambya earned the Ndeke based side the bragging rights and silenced their noisy neighbours who were hoping to protect their eight- game unbeaten run.

The victory also maintained Perry Mutapa’s unbeaten run since he was appointed Power Dynamos head coach three weeks ago. Beston Chambeshi’s replacement at Nkana FC Manfred Chabinga admitted being outclassed by Power Dynamos who disturbed Nkana with their passing game.

Power’s quick exchange of passes from their own half finally paid off when Chamanga finally silence Nkana fans with a beautiful goal following an exchange of passes between Larry Bwalya and Kondwani Chiboni whose cross was skipped by striker Davy Daka before Chamanga pounced on it to give Power the lead.

Daka doubled Power’s lead few minutes before half time but his goal was ruled out for off side by referee Audrick Nkole.

Nkana made a double substitution with only two minutes into the second half as Fred Tshimenga replaced Collins Mulenga while Richard Ocran come in for under-performing Ronald Kampamba.

The change made no impact as Daka finally added his name on the score sheet and doubled Power’s advantage, beating Allan Chibwe, a former Power Dynamos goal keeper with a low shot from inside the eighteen yard. Fredrick Mulambya made things worse for Kalampa when he scored Powers third goal after benefiting from Chiboni’s second assist of the day.

The win propelled Power Dynamos to eighth on the 18- team league table with 20 points while Nkana remain fifth on the log with 24-points.
