Some Chingola police officers inciting hatred against PF and President Lungu

-

Dear Editor,

A scheme has been hatched in which some police officers in Chingola have taken advantage of the suspected ritual killings and schemed with the opposition to deliberately decampaign the PF and President Edgar Lungu.

I’m very disappointed to witness how masked police officers in Chingola abused the law and behaved like gangs in uniform. The conduct of the police officers on January 16, 2019 leaves must to be desired.

The police officers under the direction of Chingola Central went on the rampage and terrorised the harmless and defenceless citizens who had locked themselves in the comfort of their homes. In Chabanyama Township for example, there is traceable trail of damages to people’s homes caused by the same police officers. My young brother is a victim and whilst he was asleep, four masked police officers forced their way into his house and damaged valuables. A number of houses and helpless citizens equally were victims of conduct by the police.

I interviewed a number of people in Twatasha, Lulamba, Maiteneke, Chabanyama and Chiwempala compounds and they are willing to expose the officers who conducted in themselves in an unprofessional manner. The Chingola police command owes us an explanation as to why people who are sworn to protect the citizens opted to behave like common lay men. The police command in Chingola must supply the list of names of police officers who conducted motorized patrols and took advantage of the defenceless citizens.

On January 16, 2020, my young brother went to see the Officer Commanding at Chingola Central to officially complain about the conduct of the officers under his supervision. The unhelpful CO instead directed him to see three officers in the

CID section. The officers refused to record any complaint or statement from him. They instead decided to threaten him with arrest. The police officers at Chingola Central are now arresting whoever was beaten by the masked police officers a conduct which helpless Chingola constituency have seen to be unpatriotic.

The police command in Chingola must know that they are not above the law who have immunity to break the law and get away with it. The police officers who assaulted innocent people and damaged the property they had acquired from their little savings must be arrested and must be accountable for their acts. the ranks and file of the police has deliberately decided to keep quiet and conceal the truth, the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs is our last hope.
