Stop wamuyayaya, Hichilema told

- By AARON CHIYANZO

HAKAINDE Hichilema should stop the ‘wamuyayaya’ dictatorial type of leadership and allow the UPND to go for a convention because it is embedded in their party constitution, Kanchibiya Member of Parliament Martin Malama has said.

Dr Malama said it was sad that the UPND had failed to respect its party constitution ever since party founder member Anderson Mazoka died in 2006.

He said in an interview that UPND had been turned into a party for the highest bidder.

Dr Malama said UPND president, Mr Hichilema had held on to the party presidency as if the party was his own.

He said anyone who dared to speak about holding a convention in UPND was chucked out as evidenced by the number of people who had deputized Mr Hichilema.

Dr Malama advised Mr Hichilema to stop the wamuyayaya type of the leadership and let the UPND go for a convention.

“Holding a convention is enshrined in the UPND constitution, the one they submitted with the Registrar of Societies. But the party has never gone for a convention since the passing of Anderson Mazoka,” he said.

And Dr Malama has urged the UPND to stop spreading lies about the contents of Bill 10 and intentions of Government.

He observed that the UPND were just trying to create panic among Zambians by creating falsehoods.

Dr Malama said contrary to UPND allegations, the PF were not trying to use Bill 10 to abolish the Financial Intelligence Centre or to increase the President’s tenure in office to 7 years.

He said Bill only contained the aspirations of the Zambia people and not any gimmicks from the ruling party.
