Mr. Mulimbika who said this in an interview, said the Chinese company, China Jiangxi Construction Company, was currently constructing six staff houses before embarking on the construction of the police station.

He noted that the project would be completed in record time as the project was progressing well. He said that the six houses would be completed in three months time and would be handed over to government.

He said the entire project would include: a police station and six housing units for police officers and an additional 144 houses would later be constructed on a different site to be identified. said construction of the houses would help reduce the housing deficit for police officers in the district.

According to Mr. Mulimbika, the project, once completed, will help improve security in the district as the police will have a good environment to operate from and the public will have easy access to the strategically situated police station.

He observed that the old police station was not conducive and had no accommodation for police officers. He thanked government for the long- awaited project saying it was great relief for the district that was in need of a modern police station and housing for police officers. Mr. Mulimbika said the old police station being used by police was not conducive for public services.
