My opinion on the president’’s pronouncement
Adora Alinedi Nkhoma: To be honest the pronouncement made by the President to fire non performing people both in government and the party is most welcome. However we would love to see appropriate action being taken against our erring leaders as this would help reconstruct various government departments for good governance. Currently as a nation we are going through economic challenges hence there’s need to seriously address them and this can only be made possible through a committed governance system. A given example is at the ministry of Agriculture where programmes like FISP are not properly administered living both our farmers and agro dealers complaining season in season out. There are also challenges in paying contractors, they have to wait for long periods before they can be paid. This has resulted into the government losing millions of Kwacha through interest charges on delayed payments. Most important projects around the country have slowed down, the list could be endless. Hope you’ll walk the talk Your Excellency because time is ticking, however there’s still hope for the party PF to pull through. We love you Mr President and you have our support.
Edward Mwansa: If left unchecked, they will derail the meaningful development we so need. They are afraid of the unknown. I remember very well they de-campaigned the bill of rights.
Richard Lips: They have never agreed to anything people who cannot even attend independence celebrations, as it was on the bill of rights so shall it be. They will cry again and yet they preached against it.
Ukwimi John: I have reached a point where I don’t know who is lying or telling the truth.
Happy Batwell Chongo: The ECZ are clearly misdirecting themselves! In the current form ECZ has authority to undertake delimitation of constituencies and no amendment is needed and/ or required. Compare and contrast the article they have cited and then read Articles 58 as read together with Article 59 as cited here under: Article 58
(4) *The Electoral Commission shall determine the names and boundaries of constituencies and wards* *(Surely this is an express provision giving ECZ to do delimitation)** (5) The Electoral Commission shall, at intervals of not more than ten years, review the names and boundaries of constituencies and wards.* (*SHALL CONNOTES AUTHORITY HAS ALREADY BEEN GIVEN - NO NEED TO AMEND CONSTITUTION* )
(6) ** - The names and details of the boundaries of constituencies and wards shall be published in the Gazette and shall come into effect on the next dissolution of Parliament or councils - ** ( *whatever ECZ has undertaken will come into force at the dissolution of Parliament or councils as such no need to amend the constitution)*
*59. - The Electoral Commission shall, in delimiting the boundaries - *(is this not expressly giving them authority in the constitution as it is!!
