HE media, workers and many others who have been lied to must begin to ask serious questions. For example, who proposed the amendment to remove provisions on pension benefits from the Constitution? How did the proposal on formation of coalition government come about? Who proposed that we use the Tribunal for removing Judges? Is it the PF or Cabinet or other stakeholders?
✳️The proposal to remove a pension benefit from the Constitution was made by the Zambia Law Development Commission (ZLDC), in a written submission. People at ZLDC themselves civil servants.
The question is, why is the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) paying a blind eye to this reality that it was not Government; not Cabinet that proposed this provision but an institution whose mandate is to develop laws in this country? Is it because ZCTU has just chosen a path of antagonism with Government?
✳️The proposal on forming coalition government was contained in the parliamentary report chaired by Choma UPND Member of Parliament, Cornellius Mweetwa. This report was submitted to the NDF through the Ministry by the National Assembly as its contribution to reviewing the Constitution. We expected many UPND MPs, especially Jack Mwiimbu who has been in Parliament since 2001 to know about this report. So why does he pretend when this matter was brought to NDF for discussion based on the contents of the Mweetwa-led report? We think he is playing political opportunism.
✳️The clause to change the way Judges may be removed was made by the Judiciary itself and no one. Mr John Sangwa has continued to play opportunism by taking a line that Government is proposing that Judges must be removed through a Tribunal, when Judges themselves made that proposal. Who should have been listened to by the NDF, between Judges who made that proposal or Mr Sangwa who made none?
✳️The provision to keep a one one-line function of Bank of Zambia was made by the Bank of Zambia itself. But now you have NGOs funded by donors through ActionAid going round to mislead Zambians that Cabinet wants to start printing money. Why are they afraid to tell the nation the truth that it is BOZ who made the proposal because that is the accepted standard and best practice for central banks in the region?
✳️The change of name from Drug Enforcement Commission to Anti-Narcotics, Financial and Economic Crimes Agency was made by DEC itself. This has nothing to do with the Financial Intelligence Centre. So why are NGO leaders like Linda Kasonde claiming the provision is meant to abolish the Financial Intelligence Centre when there is no single line to say the provision is meant to abolish or merge the FIC?
Why does Linda Kasonde, who is a lawyer herself, want to thrive on championing such a lie? Those who spread lies are simply put liars. Linda is a Liar who is spreading lies for purposes of becoming relevant to politicians.
