WHAT’S FAZ UP TO?

- Dear Editor, LUBINDA HAABAZOKA.

IHAVE no issues with the current team at FAZ and despite being a staunch football fan, understand that the disappearance of state-owned companies that had a social approach has contributed to poor football standards in Zambia.

I am worried as to why FAZ officials went to FIFA to report the government for interference in football!

Let me state one thing!!! Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed the president of the Football Association at one point as Minister of Sport!!!

The gentleman Mutko kept both positions of FA president and minister of Sport!!!! It is during this period that Russia was even given the rights to host the World Cup!!!

Now fellow Zambians, why should football administrators be immune to scrutiny from Zambians and government?? Operations at FAZ are funded partly using my 37.5 percent income tax and other taxes we pay!!!

It is for this reason the government should have a say in the operations of FAZ because my money is used in the association!!!

Secondly, FAZ is not a country!!! All its teams play for us Zambians!!! We can’t watch while five people decide on our behalf how the team will lose!!! Soccer fans have a say in the running of football in Zambia! Thirdly, after reporting Zambia to FIFA so that FIFA bans Zambia, officials at FAZ should leave FAZ because what will they superintend over when Zambia is banned??? Then again, after reporting Zambia to FIFA so that Zambia is banned, you become an enemy of Zambia and Zambian soccer fans in particular!!!

But why change the FAZ constitution that removes FAZ from being a member of the National Sports Council of Zambia???
