UPND wins social media, not real elections - GBM

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) would continue to be victors on social media but never in reality because it has no support from various parts of the country, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has said.

Mr Mwamba observed that the UPND was good on social media, it has become a bigger political party on social media and not in reality and for this reason, can never win an election.

He said, it was a pity therefore that the UPND was declaring itself to be the 2021 victor when it has no support from various parts of the country.

Mr Mwamba popularly known as GBM, said the UPND cannot win an election when it does not even command half of the country. He said that if the UPND had quality leaders to drive the party forward, the party would had been commanding various parts of the country. Mr Mwamba who is also former UPND vice president for administration, stressed that it had become a norm for the UPND to declare itself as winners of any election.

“We see them saying on social media that they have already won the 2021 general elections, to me it is very laughable because when I see what is on the ground things are not in favour of the UPND.

What the leaders in UPND think is that when few individuals who are on social media support them then that is what is on the ground, definitely not. People who support the might Patriotic Front especially in rural areas are not even on social media. So for us we see what is happening on the ground.

“The UPND is even forgetting that the might Patriotic Front has invaded their bedroom. If the party has leaders with vision they could have been worried about this matter but we have continued to grab those who were their supporters,” he said.

Mr Mwamba said winning an election was not by a word of mouth but needed to be strong on the grassroots across the country. He said that the UPND should know that they would lose terribly because of the massive support the PF had from Zambians.
