Opposition slammed for ‘enjoying’ Cbelt unrest

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

IT IS shocking that that some opposition political leaders are seemingly enjoying the evil and criminal acts in parts of the Copperbelt, provincial Patriotic Front (PF) chairperson Nathan Chanda has said.

Mr. Chanda yesterday said he had noted with regret, the gassing of innocent citizens on the Copperbelt, which he said was a well-calculated move by people who wanted to intimidate citizens.

He said the PF believed that ending any evil acts in the country called for collective responsibility.

"We have noted with concern how our colleagues in the opposition, especially the UPND seem to enjoy seeing citizens suffer. Can we be wrong if we conclude that it is as a result of their desperate motives to win general elections?

"In the past, we heard reports of some people, especially the youth, being trained by opposition. Afterwards we started seeing the burning of Zesco installations, burning of markets and public places and now killings and gassing of our people but why have our colleagues remained mute not even condemning?” Mr. Chanda asked.

Mr Chanda said the opposition had gone further to use fake prophets, magicians to endorse them for 2021 and giving fake prophecy over 2021 elections just to blind people and cause confusion in the country if one lost.

He wondered how a serious opposition leader on his Facebook page can be praising and supporting a magician for doing magic.

"We saw another politically-charged video circulating where members of a known Opposition party with a coffin again were chanting political slogans. We want change, we want change. Society must not be left to think a named opposition party is either behind these spates of killings and gassing taking advantage of the loss of lives to score cheap political gains.

“This is because matters of national security and public order must be kept away from cheap partisan politics. As Copperbelt, we state that Zambia shall remain a Christian nation and these evil acts will be exposed. Their sponsors will be exposed also. We have a living God who hears our cries and prayer," he said.

He said to fight these evil acts, there was need for a day of prayers and appealed to men and women of God to Stand in the gap for the province and nation large.

He said the activities on Copperbelt looked like they were well sponsored and aimed to instill fear in the citizens.
