‘Heartless politicians sponsoring terrorism’
GOVERNMENT should provide more resources to the security agencies to enable them effectively combat terrorism being perpetrated by heartless politicians, the Green Party president Peter Sinkamba has said.

He said the gassing and mob killings of innocent people were politically motivated by inhuman, barbaric and desperate people who wanted to ascend to power through shedding innocent people’s blood “It is inhuman and barbaric for any politician to kill and shed innocent people’s blood in order to ascend to power. No blood is worth losing for political, religious, economic or other motives,’’ he said Mr Sinkamba said Government should allocate more funds to the Zambia Police Service, the Zambia Army and other law enforcement agencies in the wake of rising terrorism acts in the country. He said this during a media briefing at his Parklands home in Kitwe yesterday. Mr Sinkamba has also called for the immediate demilitarisation of political parties and disbanding of security structures. He said the genesis of ongoing terror attacks was the emergence of military-like structures in political parties Mr Sinkamba said if the defence and security wings have adequate resources, they would be able to effectively combat terrorism and ensure people’s lives were protected. He said that it was important that the huge allowances that Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and directors were getting were slashed and channelled towards investing in security and defence. He said the security of the nation was very important because a country without security and peace could not achieve economic development while Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) would easily evaporate “Any investor will look at the peace and stability of the country before investing in a country. I can tell you that the most fluid investment is FDI, it can evaporate within few minutes. This is why as Green Party, we are stressing on the security of the nation “So government should provide more resources to the Zambia Police Service , the Zambia Army and other law enforcement agencies to enable them effectively combat terror being perpetrated by inhuman, barbaric and heartless politicians,’’ Mr Sinkamba said Mr Sinkamba urged President Edgar Lungu to consider enlisting the Zambia Air Force and Commando Unit for rapid response in far flung areas of the country “This could help save lives in some instances where victims are held captive by criminals for several hours before being murdered,’’ Mr Sinkamba said
