‘Arrest Nkombo over threats of violence’
POLICE should quickly arrest Mazabuka UPND member of Parliament Gary Nkombo for threatening to cause anarchy in the country if his party loses next year's Presidential elections, 3RD Liberation Movement (3RD LM) president Enock Tonga has demanded.
Mr. Tonga said police should ask Mr Nkombo what exactly he meant when he said people were going to torch the country if next’s year election does not go against the PF Government.
Mr Tonga said Mr Nkombo's statement during an ECZ meeting on Tuesday had ill intentions and aimed at causing anarchy and mayhem in the country.
Mr Nkombo is alleged to have during the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Political parties liaison committee meeting said the UPND was going to torch the country should the election results not favour the UPND.
Mr Tonga said during the meeting Mr Nkonbo was forced to withdraw his statement but that law enforcement agents should take keen interest in what he said because the statement was not only irresponsible but also had potential to cause problems for the country in future.
He said Mr Nkonbo confessed during the meeting that his party was going to cause problems in the presence of ECZ chairperson Judge Esau Chulu, FDD president Edith Nawakwi and others.
"Let him deny that he never said that in the presence of Judge Chirwa and others because all of us were there including Hon. Tutwa Ngulube, Davies Mwila and upnd secretary Steven Katuka when he said those things," he said.
Mr Tonga said the gassing incidents in the country called for the police to be proactive and act on anyone propagating violence in the nation.
"Hon Nkombo is a very good candidate to be investigated by police for his threats to burn this country in 2021. As a party, call upon the police to act on him," he said
