BIGOCA leaders escape mob lynching

- By CHARLES MUSONDA

BIBLE Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA) Lusaka south region leaders were nearly clobbered by a mob in Chongwe after being suspected to be gassers as they were evangelising.

BIGOCA Archbishop Peter Ndhlovu disclosed this yesterday at a media briefing after the church’s bishops council, pastoral council, and general council meetings held to reflect on a number of issues including gassing, national development, and tribalism.

“We are praying against the evil activities of gassing which has affected the evangelism programmes of our church. Our Lusaka south region leadership team was nearly clobbered by a mob in Chongwe area while they went to evangelise and were in a BIGOCA uniform yet the mob claimed they were those gassing people.

“This is a sad development because our leaders were saved by the grace of God. Such should not happen in a Christian nation like Zambia,” Dr. Ndhlovu said.

He condemned perpetrators of mob justice and refused to shed innocent blood. Dr. Ndhlovu said BIGOCA has pledged to educate its members on the evils of mob justice and to cooperate with the police in curbing crimes, maintaining peace, law and order.

He condemned tribalism and hate speech, and that Zambians shall work at ensuring peace and unity continues in the nation.

Dr. Ndhlovu said BIGOCA is in all 10 provinces of Zambia and believes its participation in national unity is of paramount importance.

He also said false prophets who are only prophesying against politicians must not be entertained; and that every prophecy must be tested with God’s word and must give hope to hearers.

“We pledge to be a prophetic voice in the nation, preaching the gospel in an uncompromising manner. It is our prayer that Zambians shall never be full of fear due to false prophets giving them fake prophecies because they are desperately in need of miracles.

Dr Ndhlovu commended government under President Lungu’s leadership for projects that are taking place around the country and giving Zambia a facelift.
