ZAMBIA Air force Commander Lieutenant-General David Muma has cautioned officers against taking part in circulation of social media messages and rumor mongering that fan the flames of hysteria and civil unrest.

Speaking during the Zambia Air-force Day celebrations held at the ZAF headquarters yesterday Lt-Gen Muma called on his officers to sensitise their families and relatives against the practice, violence and mob justice.

Lt-GenMuma said that no one was above the law and that the practice of violence and mob justice was unconstitutional and must never be condoned.

He said that in light of the recent events which had given rise to social unease in some parts of the country, it was imperative as uniformed personnel to behave in an exemplary and irreproachable manner at all times.

‘’As service men and women remain vigilant and support the government of the day in maintaining law and order. Do not take part in the circulation of social media messages and rumor mongering that fan the flames of hysteria and civil unrest ,’’ Lt Gen. Muma said.

He also cautioned his officers against engaging in partisan politics as the country was heading towards the 2021 general election but instead remain loyal to the Government of the day.

Lt-Gen Muma led his officers in various sports activities which included aerobics, 10 metres run and boxing as part of the ZAF Day activities.
