Laden with heavy cargo, the trucks were intercepted around hours on Monday along halimbana oad in hongwe.

Mr ikalinda however indicated that was investigating the matter after receiving a report of the five trucks belonging to a local company.

e emphasi ed that no anomaly could be pointed out at the moment as verification of documents was still being done.

owever, hongwe istrict ommissioner oster Mwan a said he received a tip from the public who spotted the trucks branching off the reat ast oad in suspicious circumstances.

Mr Mwan a said the diversion raised suspicion and the matter was escalated to officers, who arrived at the scene.

e told the aily ation that a concerned citi en informed him of the strange trucks in the area.

e explained that a team of police officers and other overnment officials rushed to the scene and found the trucks parked along halimbana road.

Mr Mwan a that the drivers could not satisfactorily explain the reason why they diverted from the highway.

t was then that he informed of the matter and a team from Lusaka responded swiftly and ordered the drivers to accompany them for verification of documents.
