Gassers linked to 2017 fires

- By AARON CHIYANZO

THE masterminds of the current spate of gassing witnessed in the country are most likely linked to the 2017 chemical warfare where markets and strategic installations were torched or a ota ed and olice t fi h the e character o t o their hidin atriotic ront ande

Constituency secretary Lemmy Bwalya has demanded.

ccording to the P officials interviewed, police should get to the root of the chemical attacks where some P cadres where prosecuted for being in possession of potassium permanganate to establish linkages with the current gassing incidences because the pattern is the same.

n , Lusaka Magistrate lyvia Munyinya ac uitted four nited Party for ational evelopment P supporters who were found with potassium permanganate, one plastic bottle of glycerin.

owever, Mr Bwalya said in an interview that the suspects who were prosecuted and ac uitted in previous attacks could be relevant to the ongoing investigations on gassing.

“Police should get to the root of the chemical attacks where some P cadres where prosecuted for being in possession of potassium permanganate to establish linkages with current gassings,” he said.

nd Mr Bwalya called the ruling party and tate ouse not to entertain attempts by P president, akainde Hichilema to meet the President.

e uestioned why Mr Hichilema thinks that the current chemical attacks could come to an end if he met President Lungu.

“ hat is ichilema and P afraid off o they know something re they behind the scheme hy then is it that the gassing can stop if Mr Hichilema meets President Lungu ” he uestioned.

Mr Bwalya said the country should begin to uestion why Mr ichilema does not attend prayers when invited but busy re uesting for secret and under the dark meetings.

“The country has been hit with trauma, the calamity came at a time not expected. Surely, how can a normal person demand for an election amidst the grief, sorrow and pains we re still suffering from ” he said.

Mr Bwalya said it was a shame that the country still had political players who wanted to gain political mileage and advance personally agendas out of people s suffering.

“People have been sub ected to unfortunate experiences of being orphans, widows as well as widowers after their beloved ones were murdered as suspects of the gassing incidents that.

“Yet for others it s an opportunity to ride on and propel their agendas. he people of ambia can now see how desperate the P and its leader are for state ouse. t s a taboo to take advantage of innocent blood of the deceased to gain personal interests,” he said.

Mr Bwalya said if opposition parties were afraid of the ballot in next year s elections the P in Mandevu were ready to teach them a lesson.
