A SCAM in which Kafue Town Council sold Matanda stadium to a private company illegally and without the knowlegde of the Ministry of Local Government has been unearthed.
A SCAM in which Kafue Town Council sold Matanda stadium to a private company illegally and without the knowlegde of the Ministry of Local Government has been unearthed.
Kafue Town Council is also said to have abrogated ection of the Local overnment ct o. of by engaging a private firm to value the said property without the Minister s approval but later sought the minister s ratification.
However, the attempt to coerce the minister to ratify its illegal sale of the Matanda stadium to a private company in has boomeranged as the ministry has now told the local authority to reverse the transaction.
n uly , , the council wrote to Minister of Local overnment hrales Banda seeking ratification of the illegal transaction but in his response to the local authority, r. Banda demanded that the illegal transaction be reversed.
“ acknowledge receipt of your letter dated rd uly, in which you informed the Ministry that the council sold Matanda tadium to a private company without approval of the Ministry of Local overnment. o this effect, you were re uested the Minister to ratify the disposal of the stadium.
“However, you are hereby informed that the Ministry observed that the council engaged the private firm, .P hibwe and ompany to value the said propertyy without the Minister s approval contrary to ection of the Local overnmnet ct o. of ,” reads the letter in part.
r. Banda also said the council sold the property in before approval by the Minister contray to ection of the Local overnmnet cr o. .
“In view of the foregoing, you are hereby advised that the minister cannot ratify the sale of Matanda tadium as re uested. nstead, the council is hereby advised to reverse the sale of Matanda tadium.
“ urther, the council is hereby reminded that overnment Policy encourages Local Autorities to revamp recreational facilities and improve on the existing facilities such as Matanda stadium. You are guided accordingly,” reads the letter in part.
