KCM pumps K50, 000 into rugby tourney

AFTER holding giants Alliance Inter to a 7-7 stalemate last week, young George FC return to Wildcat Premier Futsal League PFL action today facing struggling Lilanda Bullets in a week 24 PFL Fixture at Automotive Futsal Arena.

KONKOLA Copper Mines (KCM) has bailed out the Nchanga Rugby Club through a K50, 000 contributi­on towards the hosting of the 10-Aside Rugby national tournament to be held in Chingola tomorrow.

The tournament, which has been dubbed the “KCM 10-Aside Rugby Tournament,” is the curtain raiser of the Zambia Rugby Union Calendar for 2020.

KCM Chief Financial fficer atson irenda said during the presentati­on eremony in Chingola that the donation demonstrat­es the determinat­ion of the mining firm to give back to the community despite its financial constraint­s.

Nyirenda said KCM continues to give support to various sports because it believes sport keeps the community healthy.

Nchanga Rugby Club chairman Martin Maku u expressed gratitude to KCM for lifting the huge financial burden of hosting a major rugby tournament.

Maku u said, e are ver grateful to receive this donation because without M it would have been ver difficult for us to raise money for the tournament. The money assists in organising the tournament and entertaini­ng the residents of Chingola.”

Maku u also said the club had embarked on a recruitmen­t exercise targeting young players under 20 so that they help the young boys to sta awa from vices such as drug and alcohol abuse.
