‘Hold Nkombo accountable over anarchy threats’

GARY Nkombo should be held accountable for the threats that the country will be on fire if the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) does not do what the UPND wants, PF deputy Media Director Antonio Mwanza has said.

Mr Mwanza said Mr Nkombo's statement is reckless and irresponsible.

He said the ECZ does not owe UPND an election victory therefore Mr Nkombo should apologise.

"I find the statement by Mr Nkombo reckless and dangerous and a serious threat to national peace and security, "Mr Mwanza said.

Mr Mwanza said Mr Nkombo should be held accountable for issuing threats especially that the country was experiencing gassing and mob killings.

He advised the UPND to stop attacking the ECZ because it was not there to help UPND or indeed PF to win elections.

Mr Mwanza said ECZ was there to manage elections in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.

He said Mr Nkombo's threats of putting the country on fire was a continuation of what UPND and its leader Hakainde Hichilema had been preaching.

"Mr Hichilema said there will be Armageddon in Zambia and today we are seeing gassing and killing of our people and I challenge him to tell us if this is the Armageddon he promised," Mr Mwanza said.

Mr Mwanza said UPND must take responsibility of their own losses and stop attacking members of the commission.

He said UPND had continued to lose elections since its formation in 1998 because the party lacked leadership.

"It is not right for UPND to blame ECZ for their losses. It had continued to lose because it has not leadership and it has continued to be a regional party full of insults lies and propaganda, "Mr Mwanza said.

Mr Mwanza challenged the UPND to come up with a manifesto because they did not have one.

"Mr Nkombo should be held accountable and Mr Hichilema should explain what Armageddon means, "Mr Mwanza said.
