Stanchart, MTN seal digital pact
STANDARD Chartered has partnered with MTN Zambia to reward clients who open digital bank account. The financial institution will leverage the mobile provider’s customer management platform called Infinity. Standard Chartered Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Christine Matambo, said the two companies would reward every client who open a new account via the Standard Chartered (SC) Mobile App with free data. Ms Matambo said in a statement yesterday that the partnership would help serve customers efficiently. She said partnerships with mobile phone operators such as MTN served to enhance the client journey and experience of the Bank’s digital bank, “We are delighted to partner with MTN Zambia for our digital bank offer. As you know, Standard Chartered continues to be the only bank in Zambia with the capability to open a bank account, end-toend via smartphone,” Ms Matambo said. She said the opening of the digital bank account had been made easy and that customers only needed either a copy of their passport, or national registration card and a Taxpayer Identification Number (TPIN) which was uploaded onto the SC App. Ms Matambo said Standard Chartered was the first bank in Zambia to offer account opening where the client did not need to physically walk into a branch at any point. She said her organisation continued to be the only bank in Zambia to deliver the debit card to clients at a location of their choice in at least 48 hours, anywhere across Zambia. “Even better, clients enjoy zero monthly charges and zero minimum balance requirement when they open an account via our award-winning SC Mobile App,” Ms Matambo said. Ms Banda said the mobile provider was passionate about being innovative in going above and beyond traditional capabilities of mobile voice and data to provide value added services. She said the partnerships would go a long way in bridging the digital divide and deepening financial inclusion and would enable subscribers’ access modern ways of banking as the bank is making access to the App seamless and more rewarding. “We pledge to work closely with Standard Chartered Bank to ensure that no one is left behind on this journey of Digital Transformation,” she said.
