UNZA lecturers down tools over pay
THE United Party for National Development (UPND) Members of Parliament must stop politicising matters that affect the governance system of the country, they should instead offer solutions, Patriotic Front Mkushi South Member of Parliament Davies Chisopa has said.
Reacting to sentiments by UPND Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa that instituting a commission of inquiry would be a sheer waste of money, Mr Chisopa said it was prudent that UPND MPs changed their attitude and start offering solutions to address what was affecting the country.
He said in an interview yesterday, criticising even issues that would bring sanity in the country was wrong.
“Any matters that affect governance people should not politicise it. We know that the UPND are fighting to be in Government but even when you want to be in Government you don’t need to condemn everything.
You can condemn certain things and you agree certain things, you don’t need to say that everything is bad, no. Is the PF Government mad to be making decisions that are not in best interest of the people.
“And is the UPND only ones who love the Zambians, totally no. As Government we are making decisions that are in best interest of the people because we were voted in to power by the people and we can’t go against the wish of the people,” Mr Chisopa said.
Mr Chisopa who is former Central Province Minister said the opposition always want to politic but Government had no time for politicking but to serve the Zambians.
Time for politicking is coming and for now we need to work for our people, he said. The lawmaker however said Mr Mweetwa was the wrong person to comment on governance issues because he had never been in executive before.
“Cornelius Mweetwa doesn’t even know how Government is run. The Zambian people need to know the people behind the gassing and the truth can come from independent people who will investigate thoroughly,” Mr Chisopa said.
He said engaging independent people would able to give correct information.
