Chimwemwe vulnerable groups get mealie meal

VULNERABLE people in Chimwemwe constituency in Kitwe have received 1,350 bags of mealie meal in 25 kg packs under the Presidential Support to the vulnerable in various communities.

Chimwemwe Member of Parliament (MP), Mwila Mutale, spearheaded the distribution exercise in Chimwemwe Central, Itimpi, Kawama and Twatasha wards in the programme aimed at alleviating the suffering of the vulnerable.

“Today, we had a programme of distributing mealie meal in Twatasha ward. This is under the on-going Presidential Support to vulnerable in communities across the country. We have so far distributed 250 x 25 kilogrammes of mealie meal in Chimwemwe central and Twatasha wards

“We have distributed 1,100 x 25 kilogrammes of mealie meal in Chimwemwe Central, Itimpi, Kawama. This brings a total of 1,350 bags of mealie meal distributed in the constituency,’’ Mr Mutale said. The MP was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation at the weekend.

Mr Mutale took advantage of the distribution programme to advise members of the community to adhere to guidelines from the Ministry of Health regarding the corona virus.

He urged residents to use hand sanitizers and avoid gatherings because corona virus was an air borne disease which could easily spread from one person to the other.

Mr Mutale said the guidelines should be clearly followed to avoid the spread of the disease which had become a global pandemic.
