STOP POLITICISING COVID-19 FIGHT, GBM TELLS HH

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

HAKAINDE HICHILEMA must rise up and help in the fight against COVID 19 instead of politicising the situation, Patriotic Front (PF) vice chairperson for mobilisation Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has said.

Mr Mwamba said this was not the time for leaders to start pointing fingers but work in tandem to fight COVID 19.

He said in an interview yesterday, it was shocking that United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Mr Hichilema was only giving directives to Government instead of helping raise awareness about the pandemic.

“This is the only time Mr Hichilema can be seen to care for Zambians by working with authorities to end the deadly disease.

“What Mr Hichilema should do is let him contribute by advising Zambians to adhere to measures put in place by Government.

“It’s not the time to condemn measures which President Edgar Lungu has put in place to combat the outbreak. Let him show leadership by giving out to safeguard the lives of many Zambians.

“I remember him laughing about the call by the President to limit the number of people for gatherings. For me I think he should have commended the President because this is what the World Health Organisation advised,” he said.

Mr Mwamba said politicising issues affecting Zambians was the last thing which an individual vying for the highest office in the land can do in this situation.

Meanwhile Mr Mwamba has called upon the business community to work with Government to combat the pandemic.

He said both medium and large business entities must set aside resources to be used to fight COVID -19.
