HH support for PRIME TV questioned

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

THE vigorous fight Hakainde Hichilema has launched in defense of Prime Television proves that he is linked to the TV station Change Life Zambia Chairperson John Kasongo has said. It was significant, he said, that Hichilema jumped to the defence of Prime TV and failed to speak for all the other media houses that Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) had written to, intitiating an audit process. In the event that a media organization was involved in wrong doing , there was nothing wrong with ZRA writing to the organization or indeed requesting for information, he said. Mr Kasongo said taxation was a legal obligation and all media organisaiton had to show that they were compliant regardless of ownership. He emphasized that government through ZRA raised its income from tax which was used to improve the economy of this country. This country mostly need tax revenue to pay internal and external debts and develop the country, Mr Kasongo said. He questioned why the United Party for National Development president, Mr Hakainde Hichilema could only defend Prime TV and not other media houses which had also been written to by the ZRA. Our timely and humble appeal to Prime TV is to comply with the ZRA request just like other media are doing instead of crying to HH. “Just do as you are told like any other TV station in Zambia, who are you not to be audited by ZRA? Do not look for excuses. Mind you companies submit returns on what ever they pay in terms of adverts and others. Just pay and continue with your business,” Mr Kasongo said.
