THE Patriotic Front (PF) National Women's League has rolled out a K305, 000 empowerment programme for its members where some provinces have been given 1, 000 chickens .

PF National Women’s League Chairman Jean Kapata said the Party would extend the project to all the provinces in Zambia.

Ms Kapata said the Women's League was also looking at increasing the chickens from 1, 000 to 2, 000 chickens per district.

The pilot project was launched yesterday at a farm belonging to Lusaka Province Information and publicity secretary Evelyn Chilongozi Banda in Mwebeshi area.

And Ms Kapata said the project was meant to empower the women in the party so they could be able to mobilise resources to support party in districts.

She said the party had also bought enough feed to last the entire duration until the chickens were ready for sell.

“This is just to empower the women in the party so that they can mobilise funds and be able to support the party in the districts.

As you can see we have bought feed to last the entire period.

“We have started with K1, 000 and we are hoping to move to K2, 000 and we are giving 50 chickens per batch,” Ms Kapata said.

And Ms Banda applauded Ms Kapata and her executive for piloting the project from her farm.

Ms Banda also thanked the party for helping her rebuild her farm house after it was gutted by fire.

Ms Kapata was in the company of the party Women's League national executive committee and officials from Mwembeshi area.
