Kasempa boosts preventive measures
THE local authority in Kasempa has upscaled efforts to promote hygiene and other preventive measures in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, District Commissioner, Goodson Sansakuwa has said.
Mr Sansakuwa said the district administration would continue to support the council and cooperating partners in the fight against Covid-19
He said this when he officially launched the disinfection exercise at Kasempa Boma and Muselepete markets.
Mr Sansakuwa said the launch was just the beginning and that all the markets in the district would be disinfected to contain the spread of Covid-19.
He said he was happy that traders had obliged to clean and temporarily close their trading areas to facilitate the spraying of the buildings and surrounding areas.
Mr Sansakuwa also thanked the market committee and the media for the role they were playing in sensitising traders.
And Kasempa Town Council Deputy Council Secretary,
Milton Sakala, said the cooperation shown by traders in the district was encouraging.
Mr Sakala said the council would ensure that it was on top of things to avoid cases of Covid-19 in the district.
He said preventive measures were key and needed to be followed as prevention was always better than cure.
Kasempa District Director of Health, Paul Kambangu described the outcome of the activity as tremendous.
Mr Kambangu said community involvement in such activities was important hence there was no resistance from traders or marketeers.
He said he had pegged the compliance levels at 100 percent.
